What this extension does

WorkMe reads a job ad open in your browser and your resume, and shows how well they match: which skills the ad asks for, which ones your resume already covers, and which are missing.

What is sent to our server

To score a match and find the ad's skills, the text of the job ad and the text of your resume are sent to WorkMe's server, and from there on to TypeSafe, the AI processor that reads skills out of both texts. Other pages are checked inside your browser for a job ad and nothing from them is sent, unless you press Score this page on one yourself.

What is kept, and for how long

Your resume is not kept on our server. It stays only in your browser's own extension storage, on your own device; every check sends its text for that one request and nothing is written to a database afterward.

Ad results are cached. The skills found in a given job ad are kept on our server for a short period, so opening the same ad again does not cost a second check; the ad's own text is never stored, only the skill labels found in it and a one-way hash of the ad text used to recognise a repeat. A cached result expires, and is deleted, 30 days after it was last used.

Skill names may be counted in aggregate, with no link to you. When a job ad or a resume is read, the skill names found in it add to a running count — how many ads asked for a skill, how many resumes showed it — kept only as that count, never alongside your resume text, your ad text, or any id that could trace it back to you.

Anonymous usage events

The extension sends anonymous events — installed, a job ad was found, the panel was opened, a resume was uploaded — each tagged with one random id made for your install, never your name, email, or any ad's URL, title or company. This id cannot be traced to you; it only tells us WorkMe is being used, not by whom or on what.

If you remove the extension, the page you land on may ask why and let you leave a free-text note and, if you choose, your email. Both are sent to us by email and used only to answer you — never stored in a database.

What we never do

We never sell your data. We never show you ads. We never send a page that is not a job ad, unless you ask us to check it.
